PostHeaderIcon App of the Week: Triposo

Article Source: Online Shopping Store

Our third app of the week is called Triposo and I guarantee it will save your marriage, make you look like a genius, and improve your sex life. Maybe not in that exact order. But seriously, Triposo is a kick butt addition to your smartphone, and it’s completely free. Read on to find out why.

Here is how the Triposo app works:

  1. Download the app to your iPhone or Android device and throw away all your big and bulky travel guides crammed under your car seat along with your Snickers wrappers and unpaid parking tickets.
  2. Fire up the app and it will automatically detect your current locations and offer you a list of nearby activities, parks, shows, shopping spots, events, restaurants, etc.
  3. Triposo has travel details on over 15,000 destinations in over 200 countries worldwide.
  4. The best part of the Triposo app is that it will take into account things like the time of the day, weather, opening hours of nearby attractions, to name a few. It will then suggest your day’s activities.
  5. For example, lets say you are in San Francisco and the weather is rainy and gloomy. The app will suggest things like a nearby coffee shops along with an activity like an open museum. This is the part where you look like a complete genius in the eyes of your spouse or significant other.
  6. Are you the planner type? Use the app to plan your next vacation. From the Triposo website, quickly and easily “Learn about the history and culture of your destination, as well as practical information about the currency and language. Book a tour, plan sights to see, consider a day trip and find places to stay and eat.” This is the part where the app may save your marriage. From personal experience, my wife and I have had some shall we say, “healthy discussions” when trying to plan a family vacation. No longer, as Triposo removes all the frustration and time required to research cities and popular attractions. Love it.
  7. The folks behind Triposo gather zillions and zillions of megabytes of data from other travel sites like World66, Wikitravel, Wikipedia, Open Street Maps, TouristEye, Dmoz, Chefmoz and Flickr. They then use that data to help you plan your next trip or day outing.
  8. As for improving your sex life, I’ll leave that up to your imagination! The app is definitely worth a look, especially as you make your summer travel plans.

How the Triposo app could be better:

  1. While 15,000 destinations is good, the app doesn’t give details for many rural locations. I’m sure this will improve over time.

Have you ever used the Triposo app? If yes, please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Dusty in a still from Disney's Planes

Disney’s animated film Planes features characters that live in the world above the characters in Cars. The film arrives in theaters on August 9. The main character in the movie is Dusty, a crop duster airplane that dreams of being a racing plane. Dane Cook provides the voice of Dusty. A teaser showed Dusty outracing two fighter jets, so his dream of racing is not as unrealistic as it would seem. This video shows more scenes from the film. Take a look:

PostHeaderIcon App of the Week: GigWalk

Article Source: Online Shopping Store

Our second app of the week is relatively new but I think it has a lot of potential to make consumers some extra money, and at the same time, help businesses provide better service. It is called GigWalk and is a free app created by three former Yahoo! employees, and essentially pays you to walk (or drive) around your local town and complete small “gigs” to earn cash. Pretty cool, right?

Here is how the GigWalk app works:

  1. Download the free app to your iPhone or Android device (Beta testing coming soon).
  2. Start searching for gigs to complete in your local area.
  3. Gigs include things like taking a picture of a restaurant street menu, mystery shopping trips, or completing a small survey about a local business.
  4. The app is great for businesses as it allows them to gather some very useful real-world data from potential customer which they can use to improve their business and overall customer experience.
  5. Expect to earn $2 to $15 per gig; generally the longer the gig takes, the more money you will make.
  6. You get paid via PayPal. Bonus Tip: Try to get high ratings from clients as an excellent way to gain access to higher-paying gigs.
  7. GigWalk uses your smartphone’s GPS location info to help you find nearby gigs, so if you are out shopping anyways, why not make some extra cash?
  8. The better you perform at your “Gigs” the more lucrative gigs will become available to you.
  9. The app is currently available in eight major markets: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle.
  10. Don’t expect to make a living off the app. The biggest recorded monthly “salary” someone has made is $13,000 according to ABC Action News out of Tampa, Florida. But they must have never slept or had a huge team of workers performing gigs.

How the GigWalk app could be better:

  1. Would be better if it was available in more cities and rural towns. Hopefully this will happen as time goes on and the app grows in popularity.
  2. The app has the reputation of making the entry level Gigs the most boring and the least fun to do. As evidence, check out this Gigwalk Experiment from Desiree Brown from TheAwl.com.
